CANCELLED: Weekend in Shepparton

Unfortunately, we've had to cancel this event due to lack of interest. Seems like you lot prefer outback stations over larger towns. We'll find another station to fly to for a weekend soon!

Shepparton, VIC, is one of those few airfields where accommodation is right on the threshold. In this case in the form of a caravan park with cabins. The flight down there should provide great scenery too. Time for a visit!

The Big 4 Caravan Park, run by a fellow pilot, is giving us a 10% discount on accommodation. Their online booking system requires a minimum of two nights on weekends, but if you call them on 03 5823 1576 they will book you in for 1 night if you mention the "Shepparton Aero Club".

Update 22 Feb:

There has been a bit of a screw-up with the accommodation. The suggested caravan park had lots of cabins available - until they were all snapped up by a group of cyclists last week. So if you already booked there you're fine, but if you haven't, the following establishments have plenty of rooms:

All of these properties are in town, a couple of KMs away, but local car dealer and RV pilot has offered to provide some demo cars for people to ferry themselves across. How good is that?

On the same weekend, there also is a fly-in of the short-wing piper club on at Shepparton, so there'll be quite a bit of activity. They will be having their own dinner and evening entertainment elsewhere, though. (But are always welcome to join us too, of course!)

Timetable:

Saturday:
11:30: Arrive
12:30: Lunch provided by Shepparton Aero Club ($10, BBQ)
13:30: Go do some local flights, introduce people to your aircraft. Local guys may be putting on an RV formation flight, TBC.
18:00: Dinner provided by club, mingle. ($15, professionally catered)
20:30: Quick word by the organisers and promote your club's event!
20:45: Aviation pub quiz!
Onwards: have some fun...

Sunday:
8:00-9:00: Breakfast at the Aero Club ($6, cooked)
Depart at your leisure...  

For those coming from Parafield, join us for dawn patrol - leave first light, dead-reckon to Swan Hill for fuel and follow the river to Echuca and on to YSHT for an 11:30 arrival.

Those coming from elsewhere: test your skills, turn off the GPS. Organise with others from your area to fly the same route and compare notes and accuracy afterwards. 

For those with a night rating, this day has conveniently been chosen for a full moon that rises at last light!
